Free computers for Moreno Valley residents

Moreno Valley and the Riverside County Community Action Partnership are providing 50 personal computers to Moreno Valley residents free of charge.

The program is part of the city’s CLiC Initiative – Computer Learning and internet Activity – that began Oct. 1, according to a statement.

Applicants must have a household income less than 200 percent of the federal poverty level and complete two online workshops before receiving a computer.

“Computers and internet access are essential to modern living,” said Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez in the statement. “The pandemic has demonstrated how technology-dependent we are with so many people using computers to search for work, or work from home, or order products or get an education. We want everyone to be connected, and this is another step in that direction.”

The CLiC portal can be found at www.moval.org. Residents can access public computers at the following locations:

More computers are expected to be available in the next few months, according to the statement.
