Enrique Murillo Jr., a professor of education at Cal State San Bernardino, has won the Thomas Ehrlich Civically Engaged Faculty Award.
The award recognizes individuals and institutions that pursue the public purposes of higher education, according to a statement on the university’s website.
It’s given out by Campus Compact, a nonprofit higher education organization.
“It’s a tremendous honor to receive such a prestigious award named for Thomas Ehrlich,” Murillo said in the statement. “His leadership and pioneering spirit with respect to civic engagement and learning, wisdom in practice, and building democratic culture is legendary.”
Murillo is the third faculty member from the 23-campus California State University system to receive the award, according to the statement.
