Moreno Valley residents 14 to 20 years old are asked to apply for a spot on the city’s Emerging Leaders Council.
The council, intended for young people interested in local government, will have nine voting members, two alternates and up to 30 non-voting members at-large, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Members must attend regular monthly meetings where the leaders council will recommend policies, programs, and projects based on their experiences and community needs.
Stipends will be issued to those who attend meetings.
“Providing opportunities for young people to learn and grow is one of my highest priorities,” said Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez in the statement. “The Emerging Leaders Council is a wonderful chance for youth in our community to make positive contributions that can benefit all residents.”
Applications are available online at www.MoVal.org/elc.
