Palm Springs to hold state of city

Victorville moves on Old Town upgrade

Victorville is accepting applications for its Old Town revitalization board.

Anyone who lives or works in Old Town is eligible to serve on the Community Revitalization and Investment Authority Board, which the city council formed on Aug. 17, according to a statement on the city’s website.

Two public members will be selected to serve two-year unpaid terms on the board, which will finance and otherwise oversee the project.

Property tax revenue will be used to buy property, pay for infrastructure improvements, provide business assistance, build low and moderate-income housing and provide revenue for building upgrades.

Ultimately, the project will be paid for by rising property values created by the improvements made to Old Town, all of which will conform to the city’s Old Town Specific Plan, according to the statement.

Anyone who serves on the board – which plans to hold its first meeting in December – must submit an online application at VictorvilleCA.gov/CRIABoard. The deadline to apply is Sept. 20.
