Palm Springs affordable housing project gets state grant

Palm Springs to spend more Measure J money

Palm Springs is asking residents, businesses, community organizations, and non-profits to submit applications for funding generated by Measure J.

The city has set aside $1 million from Measure J, a one-cent sales tax approved by Palm Springs voters in 2011 to help pay for community services and restore downtown.

Measure J tax dollars have helped pay for street paving, upgrades to the police and fire department stations, restoration of the Welwood Murray Memorial Library, and construction of the downtown park.

To download an application, visit PSMeasureJ.com.
Hard copies are available at city hall, the Palm Springs Public Library, Welwood Murray Memorial Library, Demuth Park Community Center, James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center, and the Leisure Center at Palm Springs Parks and Recreation.

All applications must be submitted by Dec. 2.
