International Film Festival postponed due to outbreak

This year’s Palm Springs International Film Festival has been postponed due to the latest outbreak of COVID-19.

The festival, which was to have started Friday and lasted through Jan. 17, is expected to return as an in-person event next January, according to a statement on the city’s website.

“After thoughtful consideration, the Film Society feels this is the most responsible decision to ensure the safety of our patrons, filmmakers, and staff,” the statement reads. “Those who have purchased festival tickets and passes will receive a refund. For most, the refund will be returned to their original method of payment.”

Festival officials will announce juried award winners from the official selection on January 15 via press release and social media.
