Granite, a construction company based in Watsonville, has secured a $22 million contract to expand the Moreno Valley/March Field Metrolink Station.
The program, which will upgrade the station’s track and platform, is being paid for by the Riverside County Transportation Commission, according to a statement.
The expanded facility will be able to handle more passengers, which will help cut traffic heading into Los Angeles. Improvements will include extending the train platform and building a new platform and steel canopy on the opposite side of the existing tracks.
Also, 10,800 feet of rail and tie replacement will be installed, and 2,700 feet of track will be rebuilt.
“This Metrolink Station Track and Platform Expansion will enhance an important infrastructure connection between Moreno Valley and Los Angeles,” said Brad Williams, Granite’s regional manager, in the statement.
Work is expected to start in June and be complete by the third quarter of 2023, according to the statement.
