Local colleges stay in good standing

Moreno Valley College, Norco College and Riverside City College have all had their accreditation’s reaffirmed by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

The Riverside Community College District announced its decision last week in a statement posted on its website.

Each of the three colleges is accredited independently. The Norco and Moreno Valley colleges were first accredited in 2010, while Riverside City College has been accredited since 1963, according to the statement.

“These are well-deserved outcomes for our three colleges,” Interim Chancellor Irving G. Hendrick said in the statement. “The decisions reflect the quality of our institutions and the excellence of our faculty and staff. We are proud of our service to our students and the role we play in their academic and career successes.”

Reaffirming accreditation means the colleges were found to meet or exceed accreditation requirements. By Oct. 15, all three institutions must submit reports showing how they’re addressing a small number of recommendations made by the association, according to the statement.
