Stater Bros. will open a store next week in Riverside.
The supermarket at 7200 Arlington Ave. covers nearly 50,000 square feet in a former Kmart building, according to a statement.
It will replace a 44-year-old store, about two miles away, at 10370 Arlington Ave.
“With this new store in Riverside, we’re reinvesting into the community to make grocery shopping better for its residents, said Pete Van Helden, Stater Bros.’ chief executive officer, in the statement. It’s an example of Stater Bros. providing consumers what they want, where they want it.”
A grand opening ceremony is scheduled for Sept. 28 that will include a ribbon-cutting and a performance by the Norte Vista High School band. Stater Bros. Charities will donate $30,000 to six local nonprofits.
The nonprofits, and the amount of each donation, were not disclosed.
The older store will shut down on Sept. 25. Its employees will be reassigned within the chain.
San Bernardino-based Stater Bros. is the largest private employer based in the Inland Empire, with more than 170 stores and 18,000 employees throughout Southern California, according to the statement.
Thank God for Stater Bro. Store being established in our neighborhood. We are praying there will some job openings to enhance the community for students to work part time and openings for single parents also.
