Arrowhead Regional Medical Center’s trauma center has been designated a Level One Adult Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons.
That ranking, by the college’s Committee on Trauma, is based on a site visit by committee members in July and is the highest ranking of its kind in the United States, according to a statement posted Friday on San Bernardino County’s website.
Arrowhead Regional, which is owned and operated by the county, is a teaching hospital in Colton. It’s now one of two Level One trauma centers in the county.
The verification will be up for renewal in July 2025. Trauma injuries are a leading cause of death for individuals between the ages of one and 44, according to the statement.
