Temecula to give out $1.1 million in grants

Temecula will distribute 1.1 million in grants this year to charities that exclusively help Temecula residents.

The money will be distributed through Community Service Funding-Reinvestment in Temecula, the city’s competitive grant program, according to the statement website.

In November, the city council approved $5,000 to $50,000 grants to 49 non-profits for a total of $1,105,500, the most grant money ever given out by the city, Mayor Zak Schwank said in the statement.

“l am proud to facilitate an ecosystem that supports volunteerism and civic engagement while helping individuals and families living in Temecula,” Schwank said in the statement. “Many nonprofit organizations struggled to fundraise during COVID-19, and this funding will assist local nonprofit organizations in their recovery from such an unprecedented time.”

Those transactions, which will be administered by the city manager’s office, are expected to be made final in the next few weeks.
