High Desert mall gets specialty retailer

BoxLunch, a specialty retailer that sells merchandise with a pop culture theme, has opened a store at the Mall of Victor Valley.

The 2,625-square-foot store near the mall’s Center Court began operating Jan. 21 and Jan. 22, said Terry Relf, the mall’s senior marketing manager.

“That was their grand opening, and people really lined up for it,” Relf said. “It’s a popular store, and it’s a huge boost for our tenant mix.”

BoxLunch sells licensed clothing, merchandise, home decor items, collectibles and accessories. Themes include Disney, Harry Potter, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.

“There aren’t many stores that sell that kind of merchandise,” Relf said.

For every $10 spent in the store, BoxLunch will help Feeding America provide a meal on behalf of a High Desert food bank, a practice it undertakes at all of its store, according to a statement.
