The Inland Empire’s two largest universities have been named among the top U.S. universities for social mobility by a Washington, D.C.-based think tank.
Cal State San Bernardino ranked fifth and UC Riverside 14th on Education Reform Now’s Social Mobility Elevator rankings for 2023, which ranks more than 1,400 colleges and universities.
Cal Baptist University ranked 107. No other institution of higher learning in the Inland region made the list.
Cal State Los Angeles ranked first, followed by the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Florida International University, and Cal State Northridge. California colleges and universities accounted for 70 percent of the top 20 spots.
“This ranking is not just a reflection of our institution’s dedication, but it’s also a testament to the resilience and determination of our students,” said Tomas D. Morales, president of Cal State San Bernardino, in a statement.
“We are reshaping lives, bridging gaps, and building a society where upward mobility knows no bounds.”
