Moreno Valley looks for an artist for mural project

Moreno Valley is asking Inland artists to submit proposals for its mural project.

The MyMoVal Mural Project is being paid for by the California Arts Council and the Inland SoCal Creative Corps., which is part of the Inland Empire Creative Foundation, according to a statement on the city’s website.

The project seeks to increase community engagement within each of Moreno Valley’s four districts, with each mural depicting a different community message. The locations are the Conference & Recreation Center in District 1, Shadow Mountain Park in District 2, the Moreno Valley Public Library in District 3, and Fire Station 65 in District 4.

“Moreno Valley is overflowing with local talent, and these investments will ensure that our artists can showcase their skills in their home community,” said Mayor Ulises Cabrera in the statement. “The My MoVal Mural Project will result in community-driven [art] that reflects our city’s diversity.”

Proposals may be submitted through Dec. 6, and the competition is open to residents of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.
