After two years of work, Moreno Valley reopened the Moreno Valley Beach Drive Bridge.
A seven-lane bridge has replaced the two-lane structure that was built during the 1970’s, according to a statement on the city’s website.
“This updated bridge will better serve our growing business and residential community in my district,” said council member David Marquez in the statement. “As our business and industrial sectors grow, we ensure our infrastructure matches and exceeds that growth.”
The upgraded structure includes new pavement, better safety features and underground storm drain facilities to handle floods.
The bridge is expected to relieve traffic around the 60 freeway interchange and provide better access to and from the freeway. It includes an on-ramp that connects southbound Moreno Beach Drive to the westbound 60 freeway.
Skanska USA in New York was the project’s general contractor. A dedication ceremony was held Feb. 6.
