CSU professor recognized for biotech work

Nicole Bournias-Vardiabasis, biology professor at Cal State San Bernardino, has been given the 2024 Andreoli Faculty Service Award for her work in biotechnology education.

The award “recognizes California State University faculty who have demonstrated the highest level of service and contributions to the development of biotechnology programs in the Cal State system,” according to a statement on the university’s website.

The recipient of the annual award a $1,000 grant that pays for academic or research on their campus.

“In the 35-plus years of being a faculty member in the biology department, I have had the opportunity and to guide the career paths of hundreds of students,” Bournias-Vardiabasis said in the statement.  “I am thankful that I have made a difference in my students’ lives.”
