Fed grant to help MoVal establish biz incubator

Moreno Valley has received a $1 million federal grant that it will use to build a workforce development and business incubator building.

The funding was secured by Rep. Mark Takano, D-Riverside, according to a statement on the city’s website.

“On behalf of the city, I want to express our gratitude to Congressman Takano for securing these funds,” Mayor Ulises Cabrera said in the statement. “These funds will expand our efforts to create great local jobs and bolster the non-profit organizations and businesses that serve our community.”

Details of the project have not been disclosed. Moreno Valley will work with Takano and his staff regarding when, and by what method, the city will receive the grant.

“Training in specialized trades and jobs is critical to keeping the City of Moreno Valley competitive in the local, regional, and global economy,” said Takano in the statement. “This funding will allow the city to pursue a workforce and job training facility to serve businesses and non-profit organizations.
