San Bernardino County opens Fire District headquarters

The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District has a new headquarters.

County officials recently held a grand opening ceremony at the 80,000-square-foot facility at 598 S. Tippecanoe Ave., which puts all of the district’s administrative operations in one building, according to a statement on the county’s website.

“Our new headquarters is a testament to our growth and commitment to public safety and the communities we serve,” said San Bernardino County Fire Chief Dan Munsey in the statement. “This facility will help us to streamline our communication efforts and emergency response plans.”

The district provides fire protection and emergency medical services to more than 60 communities and cities – and all unincorporated areas – in the county. It will occupy the two-story building under terms of a 25-year lease between the Inland Valley Development Agency and ICO Real Estate Group in Los Angeles.

That agreement covers all development and operational costs associated with the headquarters, which will be owned by the district when the agreement expires.

Construction on the $26 million building started in the fall of 2022 and was completed last month, according to the statement.
