San Bernardino County and Fontana officials recently opened Fire Station 81 on the north end of the city.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held June 18 at the facility, which covers 13,200 square feet at 16615 Casa Grande Ave., according to a statement on the county’s website.
The $8.2 million structure includes three engine bays, one battalion chief’s bay, six crew dorms, two captain’s dorms and one dorm for the battalion chief. Its response time in northern Fontana is expected to be less than five minutes.
“The opening of Fire Station 81 is a significant milestone for both the City of Fontana and the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District,” County Fire Chief Dan Munsey said in the statement . “This state-of-the-art facility will enhance our ability to respond quickly to emergencies, protect lives, and support the growth of the community.”
