Affordable housing project breaks ground in Riverside

Second phase of affordable housing development goes online

Part two of an affordable housing project in Moreno Valley has been completed.

Thirty-two units have been added to Courtyards at Cottonwood, a public-private development at Indian Street and Cottonwood Avenue, according to a statement on the city’s website.

Moreno Valley, Riverside County, Rancho Belago Developers, Inc. in Moreno Valley, and Kingdom Development in Riverside are the project’s developer.

The development, which is designed to accommodate families of various sizes, was given a 2024 Sustainability Award by the Southern California Association of Governments for its its use of energy-efficient materials and appliances.

“The Courtyards at Cottonwood is an example of what can be achieved when public and private entities work together towards a common goal,” said Councilwoman Elena Baca-Santa Cruz. “This development provides not just housing, but a place where families can thrive and grow in a supportive environment.”

Courtyards at Cottonwood now has 112 units, including 92 family units and a 20-unit building for seniors, according to the statement.
