San Bernardino County has received $11.2 million from the state that it will use to develop interim and permanent housing at its Pacific Village homeless campus in San Bernardino.
The grant, from the California Department of Housing and Community Development, is part of the department’s Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention Funding program, according to a statement on the county’s website.
That program helps local municipalities develop permanent housing and provide rental and move-in assistance to homeless individuals. It can also be used for case management, rental subsidies and other support services.
“Receiving this funding is a step toward addressing homelessness in our region,” said Dawn Rowe, board of supervisors chair, in the statement. “Through this funding, we aim to contribute toward improving the quality of life in our communities.”
Pacific Village housing is a full-service operation that promotes health and housing options to the county’s most “vulnerable residents,” according to the statement.
