Cal State San Bernardino will host its eighth-annual Giving Tuesday Dec. 3
The nationwide event, held on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, raises money for student programs and scholarships, according to a statement on the university’s website.
Last year, more than 500 donors from 25 states raised more than $110,000, a Giving Tuesday record for Cal State San Bernardino.
Giving Tuesday is crucial for the university because it helps make up for frequent shortfalls in state and federal funding. To cite one example, contributions from Giving Tuesday helped sustain Obershaw DEN food pantry, which provides warm meals for nearly 40 percent of Cal State San Bernardino students who have trouble paying for regular meals at the San Bernardino and Palm Desert campuses.
