Victorville project will help homeless

Preparations underway for homeless count

San Bernardino County is asking for volunteers to help conduct next year’s Point-In-Time Count.

The annual one-night count of unsheltered individuals sponsored by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is scheduled to be held Jan. 23, according to a statement on the county’s website.

The nationwide count helps cities and counties determine how they will use federal monies to help solve their homeless crises.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and have an Android or iOS smartphone to conduct the survey. Using a web-based app, county employees, community groups, homeless service providers, stakeholders and volunteers will canvass cities, towns and unincorporated communities to count, survey and help homeless individuals.
