Lake Elsinore gets some help with the drought

More water will be pumped into Lake Elsinore this year than in past years to make up for what has been lost during the drought.

That move has led the agency that oversees the lake, the Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District, to increase what it usually spends in one year maintaining the lake by $50,0000, according to a report in The Press-Enterprise.

The district will spend $700,000 this year and will add another $50,000 during 2015. Also, the Lake Elsinore City Council is expected Tuesday to pledge $50,000 to the relief effort, the report stated.

The increase in available water can be attributed to several factors, including an expected increase in recycled water from the city’s sewage treatment plant. More development is causing more water to be treated at the plant, according to the report.
