San Bernardino County has passed a $10.5 billion budget for fiscal year 2025-’26.
The board of supervisors unanimously approved the budget, which includes $205.2 million for new programs, during its June 10 meeting, according to a statement on the county’s website.
The balanced budget includes:
- $7.5 million to establish a wildfire prevention reserve to support county departments responding to wildfires.
- a $7.5 million increase for the District Specific Priorities Program to support community needs in the supervisorial districts.
- a $3 million increase in public infrastructure road improvements.
- an additional $2 million for the community services upgrade reserve.
“Nearly a quarter of our fiscal year is spent engaging with departments and the public to craft the budget, and the results show in our stability and response to local needs,” said Dawn Rowe, board chair, in the statement.
The budget also includes a 36 percent increase for the Office of Homeless Services, which will receive approximately $45 million in state and local funding for housing, rental assistance and health services that will assist unsheltered homeless people.
Arrowhead Regional Medical Center will also receive a $164 million year-over-year increase to expand its internal medicine, medical imaging and cardiology spaces, according to the statement.
