Renovation of two major thoroughfares in an unincorporated part of San Bernardino County has begun.
The Little Third Street and Little Tippecanoe Avenue Improvement Project will cost $4 million and is expected to be completed this fall, according to a statement on San Bernardino County’s website.
The project, which broke ground earlier this month, covers 0.7 miles in the Little Third neighborhood, an unincorporated community within the city of San Bernardino. Upgrades will include new sidewalks, curb ramps that comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act, wide streets, improved fences and other safety measures.
“I’m proud to celebrate this important accomplishment,” said Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. in the statement. “We’re making investments to improve roads, sidewalks and street features, making sure we have ADA ramps. This is a major step forward that will ensure our Little Third community continues to thrive.”
Two point five million dollars of federal funding arranged by Rep. Pete Aguilar, D-San Bernardino, will help pay for the project, along with $1.5 million from the county, according to the statement.
