The Riverside Transit Agency will provide buses to LA Metro during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Games.
The agency’s board of directors unanimously approved the move during its December meeting, according to a statement released Jan. 22.
“Supporting our regional partners is part of our culture and at the core of what RTA does for our residents and customers,” said Kristin Warsinski, the agency’s chief executive officer, in the statement, “The FIFA World Cup is not just a Los Angeles County event, it’s a major global event. It is important for all of us to support each other when these regional economic events come our way.”
Los Angeles is expecting around 179,000 visitors from all over the world to attend the World Cup in 2026, which will feature eight matches at SoFI Stadium in Inglewood between June 12 and July 10.
Currently, RTA’s Route 200 provides express service from the Inland Empire to Orange County. During the World Cup, the agency will be part of a temporary transportation system that assists fans traveling from Orange County to SoFi Stadium, according to the statement.
