Ontario International’s annual 5K Run raised $83,000 for USO at ONT, a recreation facility at the airport for military personnel and their families.
Officials with the Ontario International Airport Authority on May 28 presented a check to representatives of the USO, which came from net proceeds of the race held earlier this year, according to a statement on the airport’s website.
The fourth-annual race, held as always on one the airport’s runways attracted more than 2,000 participants.
“The success of this event reflects the tremendous appreciation our community has for the men and women who serve our country,” said Alan D. Wapner, president of the authority’s board of commissioners, in the statement. “We are proud that this race not only brings people together in a memorable setting, but also helps support the USO’s mission of caring for service members and their families.”
