Riverside County will spend nearly $1 million marketing its hospital to people who now have more medical care options under the Affordable Care Act.
The Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved a contract with Johnson Gray Advertising in Laguna Beach to help bolster Riverside County Regional Medical Center, according to a report in The Press-Enterprise.
The $195,000 agreement can be renewed annually for four years, meaning it could ultimately be worth $975,000.
Johnson Gray will provide website and marketing services for the hospital and the county’s outpatient clinics. The campaign could include renaming the 362-bed hospital in Moreno Valley, which specializes in treating low-income patients.
The Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, provides health care to people who were previously uninsured. That means hospitals, particularly ones like Riverside County Regional, will have to compete for patients, the report noted.
