A Riverside Superior Court judge has rejected Ontario’s bid to have overturned an agreement that shifted ownership of Ontario International Airport to Los Angeles.
Judge Gloria Connor Trask ruled Thursday that the 1985 transfer order was unauthorized and could have been voided, but said the time in which the order could have been thrown out expired in 1989, according to multiple reports.
Ontario is suing Los Angeles for control of the airport, which has experienced a steep decline in passenger traffic during the past five to seven years.
Inland Empire officials maintain that Los Angeles World Airports has neglected Ontario International and poured most of its resources into Los Angeles International Airport, which is also owned by Los Angeles.
Trask’s ruling does not end the dispute. Breach-of-contract allegations must still be decided and a trial is scheduled to start in August, the reports stated.
