The price of water on the west end of the Inland Empire might be going up.
Under a recent proposal, water rates in that market would be based on the amount of water used, which could mean higher rates for water agencies that rely more on imported water, according to a report in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin.
Currently, a single-family home or a large shopping center in the Ontario-Corona-Rancho Cucamonga is charged $2.11 a month for its water.
The proposal has been made by the Inland Empire Utilities Agency in Chino, a water wholesaler that supplies seven water agencies that serve about 830,000 people on the west end, the report stated.
