Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday Morning at 9:30 on AM590

Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national current events and politics, with a few mortgage tips along the way. Ed delivers intelligent, entertaining radio that makes hard news easy to understand!

This week, Ed begins the show by reminding listeners that it’s about to be tax week for those who filed an extension. “I don’t mind it going to our veterans, our police and teachers, but everyone else can stay out of my money,” he says. That’s a natural segue into Ed telling home buyers about the changes to the Truth in Lending Act, or TRID. “If you’re a borrower, it doesn’t change much except for how many papers you have to sign,” he says. He hopes that borrowers will contact him at Wholesale Capital Corporation if they have any questions.

Next, it’s on to a quick conversation about the ongoing tensions between the White House and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. If you have friends who don’t understand that the President has consistently shown blatant disrespect to the nation of Israel, tell them to tune in to The Main Event this week.

Then, Ed discusses how the city of Roseburg, Oregon feels about the President’s desire to visit them. After last week’s mass shooting at the community college there, the President and his allies are once again using a tragedy as a platform for their agenda – the agenda, of course, being gun control. Roseburg’s residents don’t want to let him, and Ed plays audio of them speaking out. These are the people who inspired the #ObamaStayAway movement on Twitter, and you need to hear from them.

However, presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson has caused quite a bit of a stir when it comes to his comments on the tragedy in Roseburg. Carson spent much of the week defending his remarks that seemed to imply the victims could have prevented any deaths by ganging up on the attacker. He said a lot more than that, though, and Ed believes it deserves attention. He plays the rest of Carson’s powerful remarks during the week, and hopes people will listen.

Furthermore, Ed has his own thoughts on what could have prevented any deaths from occurring. “I wonder what would happen if those college kids were armed with conceal-carry permits,” Ed says. He believes the best chance of attacks like this being halted is, “If someone pulls a gun out of their purse and unloads a clip at the guy as soon as they realize what’s going on.”

In the second half, Ed talks about the week in Hillary Clinton. If you still haven’t seen her appearance on Saturday Night Live, you can hear the “highlights” on this week’s The Main Event. You’ll also hear the latest on her email debacle, as it continues to develop and there is a lot to talk about leading up to her appearance before the congressional committee on Benghazi on October 22 – plus, you’ll get the late-in-the-week breaking news that stands to shake up the Congress. Don’t miss it!
