Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday Morning at 9:30 on AM590

Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national current events and politics, with a few mortgage tips along the way. Ed delivers intelligent, entertaining radio that makes hard news easy to understand!

This week, Ed leads things off with a conversation with Sergeant Joey Jones from The Boot Campaign. Joey will give his take on the presidential candidates from the perspective of a young adult, wounded veteran and full-time veteran’s advocate. “It’s really telling,” he says. “Establishment Republicans are known as pro-military candidates but it took Mike Huckabee, who is considered more of a social candidate, to bring up vets first.” On the candidates answering military questions, Joey says, “I think Carly really tries to establish her views with specificity. She’s got by far the most specific plan when it comes to our military…but it’s foreign policy that makes or breaks what our military is going to do. So who’s talking about foreign policy in a way that matters? Not any, really.” Joey also notes that the idea of Rand Paul being more isolationist is troublesome to veterans. This interview is jam-packed with wisdom from an American hero, so tune in to The Main Event this week to hear it!

In the second half, Ed and his guest Scott McAfee continue talking about the most recent Republican debate. Marco Rubio was pronounced the winner by many, but Ed wants listeners to know that Rubio repeats himself, using lines from his stump speech as answers to many of the debate questions. He plays an example: Three nearly identical clips, one from the debate and two from other events. But pro-Rubio listeners shouldn’t worry; Scott provides balance, and Ed has support for Rubio when it comes to the credit card “scandal” he’s being attacked on. Still, he believes Rubio needs more age and experience to become the candidate Republican voters need. “Being stable is a learned art,” Ed says, and he believes Rubio has a few more years to learn.

As for who lost the debate, Ed joins those who say it was John Kasich; on this week’s show, he explains why. Whether you like Kasich or not, you just might finds Ed’s comments hilarious! But Carly Fiorina, who has been Ed’s favorite candidate for some time, made some incredible points in her trademark polished fashion. Whether or not you heard the debate, get a new dose of Fiorina by tuning in to The Main Event this week.

On this week’s show, you’ll also hear:

  • Why Carly Fiorina could be the next “Iron Lady” à la Margaret Thatcher
  • Which candidates are done at this point, and why
  • Business commentary, like why the Troubled Assets Recovery Program (TARP) was the only government bailout that was effective
