Perris to get Boost from Highway Widening

Perris officials are celebrating some much-needed improvements to Interstate 215 that they say will lighten traffic in the city.

The 12.5 mile project widened the interstate through Perris and brought bridges to D Street and Perris Boulevard, both major traffic corridors in the city, according to a statement.

Cost of the project, which the city marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, was $123.5 million. Earlier construction added a third lane along a 6.75-mile stretch of the interstate from Ethanac Road to Scott Road.

“This has been a long time coming,” Mayor Daryl Busch said. “It will definitely make a great impact and improvement to our city.”

Busch has advocated for the Interstate 215 improvements ever since he served on the Riverside County Transportation Commission.
