Two interim department heads with the city of Riverside have been assigned to those jobs permanently.
Kris Martinez, a 21-year city employee, has been named public works director, and Carl Carey has replaced Martinez as general services director, according to a city statement released Tuesday.
Martinez and Carey, a 10-year Riverside employee, took over those positions temporarily last month.
Both jobs are essential to delivering services to residents and businesses in Riverside, City Manager John Russo said.
“Kris and Carl have performed admirably for several weeks as interim directors,” Russo said in the statement. “I am delighted to remove the word ‘interim’ from their job titles and look forward to their continued contributions to the City of Riverside.”
