Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday Morning at 9:30 on AM590

Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national current events and politics, with a few mortgage tips along the way. Ed delivers intelligent, entertaining radio that makes hard news easy to understand!

It’s the final show of 2015, and Ed is doling out the wisdom and humor we need to close out the year. It starts with thoughts on how successful people think, which Ed learned from Tony Robbins years ago. Next it’s on to the President bashing average Americans on NPR, when he referred to disgruntled “blue collar workers” and said that Donald Trump was exploiting their fears. In response, Ed talks about the progression of events that led to blue collar workers not being able to support their families on a single job for decades on end – something Americans enjoyed until the very recent past. The story involves the auto industry, but there’s more to it than that. If you need some economic inspiration for the new year and you love the “Rocky” films (how’s that for a teaser?), tune in to The Main Event this week!

After that, we talk about the Democratic debate that took place last weekend. “Most of you guys didn’t know it was on,” Ed says. “I didn’t until that afternoon.” For once, the Democrats decided it was more important to focus on ISIS than transgender bathrooms and climate change. “For a few minutes, anyway,” Ed says – because eventually, Hillary Clinton used a discussion on ISIS as an opportunity to attack Donald Trump. If you wondered this week about the supposed “ISIS recruitment videos” Hillary blamed on Trump, tune in to The Main Event this week. Ed’s prediction is that by next week, we’ll see propaganda videos featuring Trump that look like they’re from ISIS but were really created by Hillary’s campaign. If you’ve wondered about this too, check out this week’s show.

In the second half, the topic is the omnibus spending bill that has many Republicans mad at Speaker Paul Ryan. The legislation, which has already been signed into law to avoid a government shutdown at year’s end, funds numerous programs that Republicans are at odds with, including over $8 billion for the EPA and continued funding for Planned Parenthood. There are even provisions for preserving sanctuary cities and tax credits for illegal immigrants. Despite all this, Ryan defended himself in interviews this week and we’re playing his comments on The Main Event. In response to Ryan’s comments about the “wins” Republicans got, Ed says, “Why do we have to settle?” There are also some great thoughts on private industry innovation, which Ed finds inspiring and you will too. Don’t miss it! As the show closes, Ed has a 19th anniversary message for his lovely wife Dawn and wishes everyone a happy new year.

Catch Ed Hoffman, host of The Main Event, on air this Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with encore presentations at 9 p.m., and Sunday at 4 p.m. Follow him on Twitter @EdHoffman, and like him on Facebook by searching The Main Event 590.
