Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday Morning at 9:30 on AM590

Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national current events and politics, with a few mortgage tips along the way. Ed delivers intelligent, entertaining radio that makes hard news easy to understand!

There was a lot of ground to cover this week; if you missed any of it, tune in to The Main Event to get up to speed. Ed begins by touching on the House’s effort to repeal Obamacare. The 240-181 vote this week means the proposed legislation is one step closer to happening – but for the fact that President Obama has vowed to veto any Republican bill that guts his signature health care law. This mimics a great scene from the 1990s movie “Primary Colors,” and Ed plays audio of it on this week’s show. He also remarks, “When we got the Republican majority in 2014, we thought they were going to be doing this stuff once a week; how come it took them so long just to get the first one? Maybe instead of using an omnibus bill that funds Planned Parenthood to get what we (Republicans) want, we should draft a bill that takes out everything Democrats want, like they did to us.”

Next it’s on to gun control, because President Obama announced a series of executive actions on gun control. Obama started the announcement speech by begrudgingly reminding us that he supports the 2nd amendment, and Ed plays the audio that proves it. In regards to the more extensive 10-day background checks being proposed, Ed says, “If they’re not checking to see whether I’m on the no-fly list or the terror watch list, what else are they checking that they weren’t checking before…my credit?” He also questions Obama’s proposed hiring of 230 new FBI employees and 200 new ATF agents, and the cost of the new mental health measures being implemented. “Why in the world is that going to cost $500 million?” Ed says. If you’re unsure whether these new measures will actually reduce gun violence at all, tune in to The Main Event this week; even Anderson Cooper challenged the President on some of these ideas, and you don’t want to miss hearing it.

In the second half, Ed covers issues that Donald Trump continues to bring to light. Over the holiday, Trump got attention for his response to Bill Clinton hitting Hillary’s campaign trail. Trump called the former President a “sexist” and “one of the great abusers of the world” to women. Ed plays audio of New Hampshire Republican lawmaker Katherine Prudhomme O’Brien, who heckled Hillary at a rally this week, telling reporters the reason she did it was because Hillary lied about knowing who her husband’s victims were – including Juanita Broddarick, who maintains her claim that Bill Clinton raped her. Ed also reads Broddarick’s tweet about it; if you aren’t on Twitter, tune in to The Main Event to hear what she said.

On this week’s show, you’ll also hear:

  • The other issue Trump has finally brought to light – Ted Cruz’s citizenship. This is one Ed has been talking about for months!
  • Why the same citizenship question should be asked of Marco Rubio, according to what a constitutional expert told Ed in November
  • Some business and mortgage tips woven through the show
