Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national current events and politics, with a few mortgage tips along the way. Ed delivers intelligent, entertaining radio that makes hard news easy to understand!
This week, ISIS claimed responsibility for the two attacks in Belgium on Tuesday, where the death toll stands at 34. Ed is recording the show on Wednesday instead of Friday, so we’re coming fresh off the heels of the attack and there’s a lot to talk about. Ed covers the timeline of the attack for those who have been “asleep all week,” and reminds everyone of the background information – for example, that Paris attacker Salah Abdeslam was just arrested days before.
Ed keeps you engaged by injecting commentary on the ordeal, particularly when it comes to Obama’s response from Cuba. “Obama was in Cuba…because we have to be in Cuba!” Ed says sarcastically. After playing Obama saying we will “do everything in our power to keep the world safe,” Ed says, “How? Are you just going to send them an iPod with your speeches on it?” When it comes time to talk about the now-infamous Obama baseball game interview, Ed reminds us this isn’t the first time Obama has given a tone deaf response to terror. “Remember the golf course statement after James Foley was beheaded?” Ed says. “Can you say inappropriate? Wouldn’t it be great to have a President that made you proud to be an American again?”
In the second half, we talk about Obama’s comments from Argentina concerning the attack which, as usual, included lecturing Americans on Islamophobia. “It’s not important when you kill Christians or Jews anymore,” Ed says. “It’s only important when you kill Muslims.” Ed points out that Obama’s preferred term for ISIS, “ISIL,” is actually the more respectful term and that speaks volumes about his worldview. Hillary Clinton makes an appearance this week too, and Ed has plenty to say about her speech Tuesday night when she called Cruz and Trump’s response to terrorism “dangerous” and lowered her tone of voice dramatically when she talked about “working with our allies” to keep America safe. Ed says, “Does any of this sound like BS to you?” There’s lots of humor and sarcasm to go around, and you don’t want to miss it.
On this week’s show, you’ll also hear Ed say:
- “Before Ted Cruz, whoever trusted a lawyer?” He thinks it’s awfully coincidental that Cruz doesn’t ever seem to know what’s going on in his organization, and has harsh words for “preacher Ted” because of Cruz’s rhetoric on Trump’s NATO position.
- “I never thought of Arizona as a Mormon state. I always think of it as an open carry state.”
- “How does he even know what our values are?” Take a wild guess who he’s talking about!
- “Let’s talk about WCC Charities!” Ed asks everyone to visit www.WCCcharities.org to learn how they can help a triple amputee veteran living right here in SoCal.
