Perris has been recognized for its commitment to solar energy.
The city recently received the Public Partner of the Year Award from the Inland Empire chapter of Grid Alternatives, a non-profit organization that promotes clean, renewable energy, according to a statement.
Also, Perris Councilwoman Tonya Burke won the Sunshine Award for support of renewable energy. Burke has participated in several solar panel installation projects.
More than 70 homes in Perris have converted to solar energy, and more are expected to follow suit. Perris was praised for informing its residents about the benefits of solar energy, including information about possible savings, according to the statement.
