On The Move

Scott R. Andrews has been appointed president and chief executive officer of Commerce Bank of Temecula Valley.

Andrews’ appointment was announced Wednesday at the bank’s annual shareholders meeting, according to a statement.

He was also elected the bank’s director.

Andrews, who has worked in banking for more than 40 years, joined Commerce Bank Aug. 9. He replaced Donald W. Murray as president and chief executive officer on Sept. 1, according to the statement.

“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to lead Commerce Bank of Temecula Valley and to work closely with the board of directors to grow the bank into a more regionally focused, business community bank,” Andrews said in the statement.

“The Southern California market has seen a severe reduction in the number of community banks as a result of ongoing merger activity, resulting in a tremendous market opportunity for a local community bank like [Commerce Bank].”
