One of Moreno Valley’s busiest parks will undergo a major renovation.
The city council has approved $2.6 million worth of renovations for Community Park, which is used by more than 200,000 people every year, according to a statement.
Community is at 13380 Frederick St. It has four soccer fields, all of which will be upgraded with professional-level synthetic turf. The original synthetic turf was installed there in 2008.
Use of those fields has increased considerably since they were installed 10 years ago, Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez said.
“We are proud to be able to provide state-of-the-art soccer fields for the hundreds of thousands of soccer players and fans who choose Moreno Valley as their preferred soccer venue,” Gutierrez said in the statement. “This project is just another way the city continues to enhance the quality of life for our residents.”
All four soccer fields will be closed starting March 5.
The upgrade expected to be completed in July. Soccer player may use fields at other Moreno Valley parks during that time.
A grand re-opening ceremony will be held this summer, according to the statement.
