Menifee resident recognized for work with seniors

Menifee resident Gloria Sanchez has been named a “Community Champion” by the California Parks & Recreation Society.

Sanchez, who chairs the Riverside County Office on Aging, was recognized for the “tireless efforts” she has made to improve the quality of life for Menifee residents, according to a statement on the city’s website.

An advisor to Supervisor Marion Ashley on senior citizen issues, Sanchez has helped organize “Menifee Better Together,” an event that assembles public and private entities to work with Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat volunteers, who build homes in underprivileged areas, maintain the outsides of local residences  for seniors who can’t perform that work.

Sanchez also chairs Menifee’s Senior Advisory Council, and during the past two years she has coordinated two large senior health fairs in the city, according to the statement.
