Paulette Brown-Hinds of Riverside, has been appointed to the California Transportation Commission.
Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Brown-Hinds’ appointment Nov. 21 in a statement on the governor’s website.
If confirmed by the Senate, Brown-Hinds will sit on the 13-member panel that provides the funding for the construction of highway, passenger rail, transit and active transportation throughout California. It also helps draw up transportation policy.
Since 2012, Brown-Hinds has been the publisher of Black Voice News an online publication based in Riverside. She was also an adjunct professor at UC Riverside from 2016 to 2021, and an assistant professor at the University of Cincinnati from 1998 to 2000.
Brown-Hinds is registered to vote but did not declare a party preference, according to the statement.
