Vanessa Carder is San Bernardino’s new director of parks, recreation, and community services.
The city’s acting parks director since May, Carder will continue to oversee youth, adult and senior programs and sports at San Bernardino’s 35 parks, four community centers, and two senior centers, according to a statement released Dec. 2 by the city.
The department is also in charge of senior services, aquatics, while overseeing Movies and Summer Concerts in the Park and the Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies.
“I am honored to step into the role of director and continue serving the community that I care so deeply about,” said Carder in a statement “This is a chance to deepen the relationships that make our city strong and vibrant.”
Carder has nearly 25 years’ experience working with park community programs, according to the statement.
