CSUSB libraries receives grant to host conferences

Cal State San Bernardino Libraries has received a $95,000 grant from the National Sciences Foundation that will pay for two research conferences between the United States and Japan.

The conferences, on open access and research data management, are scheduled to be held at Pfau Library in the spring and fall of next year, according to a statement on the university’s website.

Jennifer Beamer, the John M. Pfau Library’s scholarly communications librarian, will oversee the sessions.

“This grant gives Cal State San Bernardino Libraries the opportunity to be a leader in open access and build capacity and expertise in the CSU system,” said Rebecca Lubas, dean of Cal State San Bernardino Libraries. “Beamer brings a wealth of insight, experience, and expert knowledge to her role as the project’s principal investigator.”

Public access is the free availability of federally funded scholarly materials to the public, a practice long championed by the librarians in the California State University system, according to the statement.
