CSUSB recognized for social mobility

Cal State San Bernardino has been named the county’s third-best university for social mobility by The Wall Street Journal.

That designation, part of the publication’s America’s Best Colleges rankings, “recognizes institutions that take in the highest proportion of students coming from lower-income families, while maintaining high graduation rates, having a positive impact on graduate salaries and minimizing the costs of attending college,” according to a statement on the university’s website.

UC Merced was ranked No. 1, followed by Cal State Stanislaus (2) CSUSB (3)  Fresno State (4) and Cal State Los Angeles (5). Also in the top 10 were Cal State Long Beach (7) Cal State Northridge (9) and Cal Poly Pomona (10).

“Being ranked No. 3 in the nation for social mobility speaks to our commitment to providing life-changing opportunities for students from diverse economic backgrounds,” said Tomás D. Morales, president of Cal State San Bernardino, in the statement. It reflects the hard work of our students, faculty and staff in fostering an environment that promotes academic achievement and career success,”
