Former NFL running back Kenjon Barner recently presented the 2025 Jamil Dada Character Excellence Youth Awards.
The awards are given by the Riverside County Workforce Development Board to 10 local youths “who have demonstrated exceptional character while overcoming life’s most significant challenges,” according to a statement on the county’s website.
Awardees received a $2,500 scholarship, and a trophy. Barner, a graduate of Notre Dame Riverside who played on three Super Bowl championship teams during his professional career, delivered the keynote address.
The ceremony was held July 11 at the March Field Air Museum. Leticia Juarez, reporter for ABC7 Eyewitness News, was master of ceremonies.
Dada is chair of the workforce development board, and a longtime member of the California Workforce Development Board.
“This is an important program that supports youth, particularly those who are disconnected, helping them achieve their educational goals,” Dada said in the statement.
