David Gutierrez has been named Menifee’s police chief.
A 24-year law enforcement veteran, Gutierrez has worked for the Menifee Police Department since 2019, and has been its acting chief since February, according to a statement on the city’s website.
While a captain, Gutierrez served in the Investigations and Operations divisions. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, and the California Police Chiefs’ Executive Leadership Institute at the Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University.
He has also worked as the department’s public information officer.
“Chief Gutierrez has been a vital member of the Menifee Police Department, and was part of the management team that developed it into one of the premier law enforcement agencies in the region,” said City Manager Armando G. Villa in the statement. “We believe he is the right person to continue leading the department.”
