Ontario-based Prime Healthcare, a nationwide chain of physician-led hospitals, recently purchased a hospital in Illinois.
The company acquired Franciscan Health Olympia Fields, a 214-bed acute-care facility that serves the south side of Chicago, for an undisclosed sum, according to a statement.
The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board unanimously approved the transaction. Prime Healthcare now operates nine hospital in the greater Chicago area and 55 nationwide.
“Prime’s experience operating Catholic hospitals in Illinois, along with its demonstrated commitment to quality, community service, and ethical care delivery, were central to Franciscan’s decision,” said Kevin Leahy, president and chief executive office of Franciscan Alliance, in the statement.
Prime Healthcare has been named a 10 Top Health System by Truven Health Analytics, a healthcare data and analytics firm. Its hospitals have been named among the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals more than 70 times, according to the statement.
