The Inland Empire recorded an unemployment rate of 6.1 percent in August, down from a revised 6.4 percent the previous month, according to a report.
Also last month, California’s unemployment rate was 5.8 percent, while the nations were 4.5 percent, the state Employment Development Department reported recently.
Those numbers are unadjusted, which means they don’t take into account seasonal factors that normally affect the job market.

Non-agricultural employment in Riverside and San Bernardino counties rose by 6,400 jobs last month, to a total of 1,700,100 jobs.
Government added 4,200 jobs between July and August, the most of any sector. Within that group, private education and health services increased by 2,000 jobs, and health care and social assistance added 1,800 jobs.
Construction lost 1,200 jobs, the most of any sector in the two-county region, the department reported.
The Inland job data is also not seasonally adjusted.
